American Samoa, Sep. 28, 2012 -- NOAA's National Weather Service and the Federal Emergency Management Agency hosted a ceremony to recognize the territory of American Samoa as Tsunami Ready. The TsunamiReady program helps coastal areas reduce the potential for disastrous tsunami-related consequences by strengthening local tsunami planning and preparedness.
