New Orleans, La., July 7, 2008 -- Hurricane Katrina wreaked havoc with the state's navigable waters, depositing obstacles of all descriptions in its canals, lakes and rivers. FEMA assigned the U.S. Coast Guard the task of removing marine debris. To date, 167,000 cubic yards of debris has been collected from Louisiana waterways.
