Welcome to FEMA Public Affairs
When disaster strikes, we at the Federal Emergency Management Agency are keenly aware of our responsibility to provide help to people facing the trauma of loss of their homes and belongings.
Providing timely and accurate disaster recovery information is of critical importance to residents and communities affected by a disaster. Instilling an awareness and trust in our agency’s mission and programs contributes to establishing the public’s confidence in the recovery process.
As members of the public affairs team, you are out front for the agency in times of disaster. We count on you to be ready and able to respond and perform effectively on short notice and during stressful times.
Informing disaster victims that their government is working for them and is there to help is critical in the recovery process. They need to know where and how to get help. They need to know what to expect and what not to expect. Getting these messages out quickly is your responsibility as members of the public affairs team.
Our objective is to provide you with the training and tools you need to do your job professionally. The certification process and standardized training for Disaster Assistance Employees along with Public Affairs Disaster Operations Field Guide are designed to ensure quality and consistency in the delivery of disaster information every time we are called on to respond. Your commitment to excellence and contribution to FEMA are truly appreciated.
