BISMARCK, N.D. -- Stark County residents who suffered damage during Wednesday night's severe storm can meet face-to-face with state and federal disaster recovery officials. A Disaster Recovery Center has been established by North Dakota Division of Emergency Services (NDDES) and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) at the Prairie Hills Mall, 1681 Third Avenue West, Suite 43.

The center will open at 1:00 p.m. Friday, July 10. Normal hours will be 9 a.m. - 6 p.m. MDT daily until further notice, except on Sunday when it will close at 5 p.m.

"Residents should first contact their insurance agent," NDDES Deputy Director Greg Wilz said. "If there are needs not covered by insurance, then state and federal assistance may be available.

Residents who plan to stop by the DRC are encouraged to register for assistance before their visit. Residents can register for assistance by calling 1-800-621-FEMA (3362) or TTY 1-800-462-7585 or visiting www.DisasterAssistance.gov online. The registration line is open daily from 6 a.m. - midnight CDT until further notice. The call is free.

"This recovery center is another example of our commitment to the people of North Dakota," said FEMA Federal Coordinating Officer Justo "Tito" Hernandez. "We are providing an opportunity to meet directly with agencies that can assist with needs not covered by insurance."

Customer service representatives from the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) will also be available to answer questions about the SBA disaster-loan program and assist with disaster loan applications. For more information, call SBA at 1-800-659-2955, or visit the Web site at www.sba.gov/services/disasterassistance.
