PENSACOLA, Fla. – People who are repairing or rebuilding damaged property can get advice from a Federal Emergency Management Agency mitigation specialist at two area home improvement stores.
Hazard mitigation specialists who are knowledgeable about property cleanup and rebuilding safer and smarter will be offering advice and guidance from 10:30 a.m. to 7 p.m., Tuesdays through Sundays, until June 15, at the following locations:
Home Depot, 5309 N. Davis Highway, Pensacola
Home Depot, 4829 Highway 90, Pensacola
Advice and guidance on the National Flood Insurance Program, advisory base flood elevation maps, flood insurance rate maps, and repair and rebuilding will be available to all, not just to individuals who are registered with FEMA.
Advice also will be given on:
- Elevating electrical services and appliances;
- Installing sewer back-flow valves;
- Replacing drywall and insulation;
- Channeling water away from foundations; and
- Permitting process required by local authorities.

FEMA’s temporary housing assistance and grants for childcare, medical, dental expenses and/or funeral expenses do not require individuals to apply for an SBA loan. However, those who receive SBA loan applications must submit them to SBA to be eligible for assistance that covers personal property, transportation, vehicle repair or replacement, and moving and storage expenses.
