MIDLOTHIAN, Va.? -- Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) registration deadline for renters, homeowners and business owners in central Virginia who suffered damage from the August 23 earthquake is two weeks away. Counties designated for disaster assistance are Albemarle, Culpeper, Fluvanna, Goochland, King George, Louisa, Orange and Spotsylvania as well as the City of Fredericksburg.
The deadline to register for disaster aid is Monday March 5, 2012.
Assistance to individuals can include grants to help pay for temporary housing needs, essential home repairs and other disaster-related expenses not covered by insurance or other sources.
Survivors with earthquake damage may register with disaster specialists by calling the toll-free registration number at 1-800-621-FEMA (3362), TTY 1-800-462-7585, if you use 711-Relay or Video Relay Service (VRS) call 1-800-621-3362 or go online to www.DisasterAssistance.gov. Phone lines are open 7 a.m.-10 p.m. EST, seven days a week, or apply online anytime.
Disaster recovery assistance is available without regard to race, color, religion, nationality, sex, age, disability, English proficiency or economic status.
