BISMARCK, N.D. - The last day for North Dakotans to register for federal disaster assistance is Monday, Nov. 21, and the last day of operation for the Disaster Recovery Center in Minot is Tuesday, Nov. 22. The last day for submitting applications for disaster loans to the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) is Monday, Nov. 21.
State and federal officials encourage residents affected by the 2011 flooding to register for assistance immediately by calling: 800-621-3362 (also applies for VRS and 711-Relay users) or TTY 800-462-7585. The toll-free line is open from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. CST. Individuals may also register for disaster assistance at www.disasterassistance.gov or with a smart phone or tablet at m.fema.gov.
Located in Dakota Square Mall, the Disaster Recovery Center will remain open through Nov. 22 from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 9 am. to 2 p.m. Saturday. It will be closed Sunday. The center is available for residents who would like to speak one-on-one to recovery representatives, but it is not necessary to visit a center to receive disaster assistance. Residents who need disaster-related assistance after Nov. 22 can contact the Federal Emergency Management Agency as detailed above.
