RALEIGH, N.C. -- Using personal computers or smartphones, Hurricane Irene survivors can access Facebook, Twitter and YouTube sites maintained by North Carolina Emergency Management and the Federal Emergency Management Agency. These sites contain updates on disaster recovery and information on preparing for the next time disaster strikes.
Survivors with Android and iPhone smartphones can download the FEMA app for free. The app contains important information on disaster preparation, safety tips, locations of disaster recovery centers and blog postings.
Survivors can access the following state and federal emergency sites:
North Carolina Emergency Management

- twitter.com/CraigatFEMA (FEMA Administrator Craig Fugate)
- m.facebook.com/fema (accessible on mobile devices)
Survivors can go to a local library to visit these sites if they do not own a personal computer.
