ALBANY, N.Y. – The state and federal Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) in Johnson City, operating from the Police Department at 31 Avenue C, will close Friday, Nov. 4, at 8 p.m., according to officials from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

A number of DRCs remain open to serve the public. People who were unable to visit the facility closing in Johnson City can seek information and guidance at those DRCs that continue to operate.

FEMA and state emergency-management representatives strongly urge people adversely affected by the recent storms and flooding to register with FEMA before visiting any center. Call 800-621-3362 or log onto to register. For people affected by both Hurricane Irene and Tropical Storm Lee, FEMA requires that separate registrations be made for each.

The DRCs are staffed with disaster-recovery specialists who can provide information and answer questions about storm-related assistance, FEMA officials said.

Currently, all of these centers are open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., Monday through Saturday, until further notice.
