COLUMBIA, Mo. -- The Federal Emergency Management Agency and the state of Missouri announced today the closing of the Disaster Recovery Center at 4950 Frederick Ave., St. Joseph, Mo., at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 10, 2011.
The recovery center is open Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
After a recovery center closes, flood survivors in Andrew, Atchison, Buchanan, Holt, Lafayette and Platte counties can still get help with disaster assistance questions by calling the FEMA Helpline at 1-800-621-FEMA (3362).
Registration for federal disaster assistance may be completed by calling FEMA’s toll-free registration line, 1-800-621-FEMA (3362). If the applicant has a speech disability or hearing loss and uses a TTY, call 1-800-462-7585 directly; if the applicant uses 711 or Video Relay Service (VRS), call 1-800-621-3362. Multilanguage assistance is available. Helpline hours are 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Registration is also available online at www.DisasterAssistance.gov or by smartphone at m.fema.gov.
