FEMA Experts to Offer Rebuilding Advice in Dutchess and Orange County Stores

ALBANY, N.Y. -- Mitigation experts from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) will soon be in home improvement stores in two counties.

The FEMA experts will be at stores in Dutchess and Orange counties:

Dutchess County
Lowe’s

Hours are Sunday, Oct. 23, to Wednesday, Oct. 26, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Closed Thursday, Oct. 27.
Friday, Oct. 28, to Wednesday, Nov. 2, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Orange County
Home Depot

Monroe, NY 10950
Hours are Sunday, Oct. 23, to Wednesday, Oct. 26, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Closed Thursday, Oct. 27.
Friday, Oct. 28, to Wednesday, Nov. 2, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The mitigation experts will provide information on:

  • Cleaning mold and mildew;
  • Elevating electrical services and appliances;
  • Installing sewer back-flow valves;
  • Removing and replacing drywall and insulation;
  • Channeling water away from foundations;
  • Repairing with water-resistant materials; and
  • The permitting process required for rebuilding.
