BISMARCK, N.D. – Homeowners can get information on how to make repairs and rebuild flooded homes to better withstand future disasters at a free Flood Rebuilding Workshop on Sept. 1, 2011 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Church of the Ascension, 1905 3rd St., Bismarck.

Federal Emergency Management Agency mitigation specialists will provide information on how to protect homes from future flood damage and to clean up mold and mildew. Homeowners can visit a display featuring a sump pump, backflow valve and floor drain plug. Free publications on mold and mildew cleanup will also be available.

State and federal officials encourage those affected by the disaster to register for assistance immediately by calling: 800-621-3362 (also applies for VRS and 711-Relay users) or TTY 800-462-7585. The toll-free line is open from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. CDT. Individuals may also register for disaster assistance at www.disasterassistance.gov or with a smart phone at m.fema.gov.
