WESTFIELD, Mass. -- The commonwealth/federal Disaster Recovery Center in Springfield will be closed Saturdays, starting July 30, but will continue with its regular hours of operation Monday through Friday until further notice.
Weekday hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The DRC will be closed both Saturday and Sunday.

Survivors of the severe storms and tornadoes that struck Massachusetts June 1 can meet personally with disaster specialists at the center and obtain information on disaster assistance programs and the application process.
U.S. Small Business Administration staff members are available to help people complete their low-interest disaster loan applications.
The deadline to apply for disaster assistance -- and return a disaster loan application to SBA - is Aug. 15, 2011.
Tornado survivors can register with the Federal Emergency Management Agency or get information by calling 800-621-FEMA (3362) or 800- 462-7585 (TTY) for people who are deaf or hard of hearing. Multilingual registration assistance is available at both numbers. For online registration, go to www.DisasterAssistance.gov. Those with smart phones and tablets can register at m.fema.gov.
