FEMA Mobile Disaster Recovery Center Opens June 29 in Mississippi County

COLUMBIA, Mo. -- The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) announced today it will open a Mobile Disaster Recovery Center (MDRC) in Mississippi County to help survivors of the severe storms, tornadoes and floods with their applications for federal and state disaster assistance.

The MDRC will be located at the First Baptist Church, 205 Pearl Street, East Prairie. Operating hours will be Wednesday, June 29, 2011, from 1 to 6 p.m., and then Thursday and Friday, June 30 and July 1, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Specialists from FEMA and the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) will be on hand to meet with storm survivors face-to-face, to answer any disaster assistance questions, and to help applicants complete their SBA disaster loan applications.

Missouri residents also may visit any DRC in the state at the following locations:

Registration may be completed online at www.DisasterAssistance.gov, by smartphone through m.FEMA.gov, or by calling FEMA's toll-free registration line at 1-800-621-FEMA (3362). Telephone registration is available from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., daily, until further notice.

SBA low-interest disaster loans up to $200,000 are available to homeowners to repair or replace damaged or destroyed real estate. Homeowners and renters also may be eligible for up to $40,000 to repair or replace damaged or destroyed personal property.

Businesses of any size and private non-profit organizations may borrow up to $2 million to repair or replace damaged or destroyed real estate, machinery and equipment, inventory and other business assets.
