FEMA Rebuilding Experts Available At Ashland Lowe's

FRANKFORT, Ky. -- Beginning May 25, Community Education and Outreach teams from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) will be offering advice to Ashland area homeowners, renters and business owners on clean-up and rebuilding procedures following the recent flooding.

The outreach teams will suggest mitigation measures to reduce or eliminate the long term risk to human life and property from hazards such as flooding and high winds.

FEMA mitigation outreach specialists will explain how best to clean up mold, mildew and bacteria, a common problem after flooding.?? They also will be offering tips on how to protect structures from future flooding, including information about relocating electrical panels, washers, dryers, and heating and cooling equipment to avoid water damage.

Outreach teams will be available for a week beginning May 25 at the Lowe's Home Improvement Warehouse.

DATE: May 25 to May 31.

TIME: 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday.

By taking precautions after flooding, residents can safely reoccupy damaged buildings. Spending a few dollars today on mitigation measures can save lives and prevent damages in the thousands of dollars in the future.
