Alabama Recovery Centers Open In Marion, St. Clair Counties

ATLANTA, Ga. -- Disaster recovery centers are open in Marion and St. Clair counties to help those whose homes or businesses were affected by the recent storms and tornadoes in Alabama. The centers will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. seven days a week until further notice at the following addresses:

Representatives from the Federal Emergency Management Agency, Alabama Emergency Management Agency, the U.S. Small Business Administration and other agencies will staff the centers to explain disaster assistance programs and help survivors apply for aid.

More centers will open soon in other counties designated for federal assistance. Survivors can find the closest center by using the online disaster recovery center locator at http://go.usa.gov/CDc, the FEMA helpline (800-621-FEMA), or m.fema.gov for Web-enabled devices or smartphones.??

If possible, before going to a disaster recovery center, those with storm losses should register with FEMA by calling 800-621-FEMA (3362), online at www.DisasterAssistance.gov or use a smartphone or tablet to get to m.fema.gov. Those with a speech or hearing impairment may call (TTY) 800-462-7585.

Federal disaster assistance can include grants for rental assistance and home repairs, low-interest loans from the SBA to cover uninsured property losses and other programs to help recover from the effects of the disaster.
