Eight Disaster Recovery Centers to Close; SBA Centers to Open

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. -- Disaster Recovery Centers in eight counties will close at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 6. Until then, hours are 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. every day.

Survivors of the severe storms and flooding from remnants of Tropical Storm Nicole who have questions are urged to visit the centers before they close to meet one-on-one with recovery specialists about specific disaster-related needs.

Federal Emergency Management Agency and North Carolina disaster recovery specialists and U.S. Small Business Administration representatives are available to answer questions and review applications. Recovery specialists can supply contacts for other programs that may be able to help.

Bertie, Craven and Pender locations will reopen Monday, November 8, as SBA Disaster Loan Outreach Centers.  They will be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday through Nov. 16, except for Veterans Day, Thursday, Nov. 11.

There also is a Disaster Recovery Center open today through Friday, Nov. 5,  in Pitt County at Gardnerville Volunteer Fire Department, 9521 County Home Road, Ayden, NC 28513. Hours are
8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

To be eligible for state, FEMA or SBA assistance, homeowners and renters can register with FEMA online at www.DisasterAssistance.gov or by calling 800-621-FEMA (3362) or (TTY) 800-462-7585. Applicants can use the same telephone numbers to check on their FEMA registration by pressing the Helpline option.
