ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. – A Disaster Recovery Center is coming to Pitt County to help those whose homes or businesses were affected by Tropical Storm Nicole.
The center will be open Wednesday, Nov. 3, through Friday, Nov. 5, in Ayden at the following location:
Gardnerville Volunteer Fire Department
9521 County Home Road
Ayden, NC 28513
Hours are from 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
Representatives from the Federal Emergency Management Agency, North Carolina Emergency Management and the U.S. Small Business Administration will be available to explain disaster assistance programs.
Those who suffered damages are encouraged to register with FEMA before going to a recovery center, either online at www.DisasterAssistance.gov or by calling 800-621-FEMA (3362) or (TTY) 800-462-7585.
Staff at the recovery center can assist with registration, answer questions about an application for disaster assistance or review information needed to process it. Recovery specialists also can provide contacts for other programs that may be able to help.
SBA representatives will be there to answer any questions about disaster loans available to homeowners, renters, businesses and private nonprofit organizations of all sizes.
FEMA’s mission is to support our citizens and first responders to ensure that as a nation we work together to build, sustain, and improve our capability to prepare for, protect against, respond to, recover from, and mitigate all hazards.
Disaster recovery assistance is available without regard to race, color, religion, nationality, sex, age, disability, English proficiency or economic status. If you or someone you know has been discriminated against, call FEMA toll-free at 800-621-FEMA (3362). For TTY call 800-462-7585.
FEMA’s temporary housing assistance and grants for public transportation expenses, medical and dental expenses, and funeral and burial expenses do not require individuals to apply for an SBA loan. However, applicants who receive SBA loan applications must submit them to SBA loan officers to be eligible for assistance that covers personal property, vehicle repair or replacement, and moving and storage expenses.
