WEST DES MOINES, Iowa – The Webster County Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) at Crossroads Mall, 217 S. 25th St., Suite C-3 in Fort Dodge will end operations at 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 14, 2010, according to state and federal officials.
The 60-day registration period for disaster assistance ends Oct. 13. Those who have registered, but still have questions may call the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Helpline or visit any DRC that is still open.
To access the Helpline, call the registration number, 800-621-FEMA (3362), select language, enter a ZIP code, and then select option two. Callers will need their disaster registration and Social Security numbers.
There are several DRCs located throughout the state. The closest DRC to Webster County is in Story County at 1615 Golden Aspen Dr., Suite 108 in Ames. Hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday, and noon to 5 p.m. on Saturday.

To register for assistance, call FEMA's toll-free number, 800-621-FEMA (3362) or TTY 800-462-7585 for the speech- and hearing-impaired between 7 a.m. and 10 p.m., seven days a week, until further notice. Multilingual operators are available. Residents also may register online anytime at www.disasterassistance.gov.
U.S. Small Business Administration
The U.S. Small Business Administration offers disaster loans up to $200,000 to homeowners to repair or replace their damaged or destroyed primary residence. Homeowners and renters are eligible for up to $40,000 to repair or replace damaged or destroyed personal property.
Businesses of any size and private non-profit organizations may borrow up to $2 million to repair or replace damaged or destroyed real estate, machinery and equipment, inventory, and other business assets. SBA can also lend additional funds to help homeowners and business owners with the cost of making improvements that protect, prevent, or minimize the same type of disaster damage from occurring in the future.
