NEW BERLIN, Wis. -- Grant and Milwaukee County residents who qualify for federal disaster assistance to recover from severe storms and flooding July 20-24 are encouraged to register for Electronic Funds Transfer for faster, safer deposits.
"Consider arranging for federal disaster assistance funds to be transferred electronically into your bank account," said Paul Ricciuti, Federal Coordinating Officer with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).
To register for assistance, log onto www.DisasterAssistance.gov or call 1-800-621-FEMA/3362. Individuals with speech or hearing impairments may call TTY 1-800-462-7585. The hotline is open from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., seven days a week.
"Choosing to have funds transferred electronically may require one additional step when registering, but it can be well worth the effort," said Wisconsin Emergency Management Administrator Michael Hinman.
