Deadline For Agencies To Request Disaster Assistance Is July 24

BEAVER, W. Va. -- The deadline for local and state agencies, public utilities and certain nonprofit agencies to file their requests for disaster assistance from the June storms and flooding is Saturday, July 24, 2010.

The West Virginia Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Management (WVDHSEM) and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) can reimburse the cost of debris removal, eligible emergency response measures and repairing or replacing some public facilities affected by the June 12-29 severe storms, flooding, mudslides and landslides.

The FEMA Public Assistance Program pays 75 percent of the eligible cost for storm losses in Logan, McDowell, Mingo and Wyoming counties.
