LEXINGTON, KY -- Now that Fayette County has been included in the disaster declaration for the early May severe storms, flooding, mudslides and tornadoes, the Kentucky Division of Emergency Management (KYEM) and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) announce the opening of a disaster assistance office at 2800 Tates Creek Road, Lexington, in the Centenary United Methodist Church.
The Lexington office will be open from Wednesday, June 23 at 9 a.m. through Wednesday, June 30 at

Disaster assistance offices are open Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.; they are closed Sundays.
At disaster assistance offices, specialists from FEMA Individual Assistance, FEMA Mitigation, and the Commonwealth can check individuals’ cases, answer questions about claims, or review information needed to process their claims.
U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) representatives at the disaster centers can answer questions about the SBA low-interest disaster loan program for homeowners, renters, businesses and private, non-profit organizations of all sizes. These loans are to repair or replace real estate and/or personal property damaged by the storms and flooding.
The deadline for registering for disaster assistance and for applying for SBA disaster loans is July 12. Disaster survivors who haven’t registered for assistance or those with questions are encouraged to call 800-621-FEMA (3362) or (TTY) 800-462-7585, or go online at www.disasterassistance.gov. Telephone lines are staffed daily from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. EDT until further notice. Help is available in almost any language.
