REISTERSTOWN, Md. --The Maryland Emergency Management Agency and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) announced they will hold Public Assistance Applicant Briefings in Montgomery and Howard Counties and the City of Baltimore. The briefings are being held to help local governments and certain private nonprofit organizations affected by the February 5-11, 2010, severe winter storms and snowstorms.
Following a request by the Governor for disaster assistance, a presidential disaster declaration was signed on May 6, 2010, making Federal funding available to the State of Maryland, eligible local governments and certain private nonprofit organizations on a cost-sharing basis. The declaration covers funding for emergency work and the repair or replacement of disaster damaged facilities, including Category B snow assistance.
