Two New Kentucky Disaster Recovery Centers Open; Operating Hours Change To 9 A.M. - 6 P.M. Monday - Friday

LEXINGTON, KY -- Two additional Kentucky counties will open Disaster Recovery Centers (DRCs) early next week to assist people and businesses who sustained damage during last month's rains and storms. 

On Monday, June 7, a Washington County DRC will open in Springfield.  On Tuesday, June 8, a Jessamine County DRC will open in Nicholasville.

Also beginning Monday, June 7, the hours of operation at all Kentucky DRCs will change. The new hours will be 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday.

The disaster centers are operated by the Kentucky Division of Emergency Management (KYEM) and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to provide information, funding applications, and cleanup tips to those affected by the May 1 series of severe storms, flooding, mudslides, and tornadoes.

After Tuesday, there will be DRCs operating in: Rowan, Mercer, Madison, Adair, Lewis, Carter, Lincoln, Franklin, Monroe, Warren, Washington, and Jessamine counties.

Disaster survivors with storm damage, large or small, are encouraged to register before July 12, either online at www.disasterassistance.gov or by calling 800-621-FEMA (3362) or (TTY) 800-462-7585 for people with speech and hearing disabilities. The telephone lines are staffed daily from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. EDT until further notice. Help is available in almost any language.
