CLINTON, Miss. -- Help is available at the Disaster Recovery Center in Corinth until Saturday, June 5. Those who still need person-to-person help with their applications for disaster assistance following the May 1-2 storms should visit the center by June 5.
At the recovery center at the Alcorn Arena on South Harper Road, people who suffered losses can get person-to-person assistance from specialists skilled in many disaster-related subjects, including available grant programs and low-interest disaster loans. The center will operate 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. each day through June 5.
Help is always available to Mississippians by calling the FEMA Helpline. People can register for assistance, track the status of their applications and update mailing addresses and phone numbers. The toll-free numbers are 800-621-FEMA (3362), TTY 800-462-7585. Lines are staffed each day from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. CDT until further notice. Help is available in all languages.
Disaster information is also available online at http://www.disasterassistance.gov.
People who suffered uninsured or underinsured damages or losses in the following counties may be eligible for disaster assistance programs: Alcorn, Benton, Lafayette, Tippah, and Tishomingo. The deadline to register with FEMA is July 13.
