Applicant Briefings Scheduled For Garrett, Allegany And Washington Counties

REISTERSTOWN, MD -- The Maryland Emergency Management Agency and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) announced they will hold Public Assistance Applicant Briefings in Garrett, Allegany and Washington Counties to help local governments and certain private nonprofit organizations affected by the February 5-11, 2009, severe winter storms and snowstorms.  The briefings will take place on the 19th and 20th of this month.

Following a request by the Governor for disaster assistance, a presidential disaster declaration was signed for the February storms, making Federal funding available to the State of Maryland, eligible local governments and certain private nonprofit organizations on a cost-sharing basis. The declaration covers funding for emergency work and the repair or replacement of disaster damaged facilities, including Category B snow assistance.
