Pago Pago, AS – The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is providing American Samoan residents another opportunity to learn about new techniques for repairing and rebuilding their disaster-damaged homes or businesses. Specialists from the Mitigation Community Education Outreach program are offering free advice and answering questions next week in Tafuna and Malaloa.
Beginning Monday, January 4, the mitigation specialists outreach schedule is:
- CBT Ho Ching & Co. Inc., Tafuna warehouse location
Monday and Tuesday, January 4 - 5, from 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. - Tool Shop, Malaloa
Wednesday and Thursday, January 6 -7, from 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Advice will include information on coastal construction and mitigation techniques to reduce or prevent damages from earthquakes, flooding and hurricanes.
To date, FEMA mitigation specialists have provided critical information to approximately 300 people in American Samoa on ways to repair or improve their homes to reduce or prevent future disaster damages. There is no limit on the number of times someone can visit with a specialist.
