PAGO PAGO, AS -- Less than one week remains to register with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and to return a completed U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) disaster loan application. It is also important to note that the Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) and registration help line will be CLOSED on Thanksgiving Day.
The deadline for American Samoa residents to apply for disaster assistance and return a completed SBA disaster loan application for damages or losses caused by the earthquake, tsunami and flooding is at 5 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 30, 2009. Registrations cannot be accepted after the deadline.
Recovery officials urge residents and business owners who have not yet registered with their disaster-related damage to visit the DRC at the Lee Auditorium in Utulei. The DRC is open Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. and between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. Saturday. The FEMA Helpline offers assistance to applicants between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday and between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Saturday. The FEMA Helpline is (684) 633-3720.
Federal and Territory recovery aid includes grants for emergency disaster housing and essential repairs, individual and household grants for necessities not covered by insurance, or other sources and low-interest disaster loans from the SBA.
