Recovery officials continue to urge all survivors of the severe storms and flooding of Aug. 8-10 in Cattaraugus, Chautauqua, and Erie counties to register for disaster assistance with FEMA. They encourage registration regardless if the applicant:
- has insurance and has made repairs
- experienced personal losses
- filed a claim with the National Flood Insurance Program.
"Some residents may assume that accepting assistance may shortchange their neighbors," said Federal Coordinating Officer Jaime E. Forero. "That's incorrect. Let me emphasize that assistance is available to ALL who qualify."
Help is always just a phone call or mouse click away. elp Residents can apply or follow up on their applications by going online to www.disasterassistance.gov, or by calling 1-800-621-3362 or TTY 1-800-462-7585 for the speech- and hearing-impaired.
