FRANKFORT, Ky. -- Do you really know where you live? Not knowing the flood risk of your home or business could cost you a lot of money. But, there is a simple way to find out that risk. Visit the Federal Emergency Management Agency online at www.floodsmart.gov.

You can find if your property is at risk for flooding, find an insurance agent who sells flood insurance in your area and get an estimate of what the flood insurance policy may cost.

  1. Go to www.floodsmart.gov.
  2. Enter your street address, city, state and zip code.
  3. Click on appropriate residence circle.
  4. Click “Go” button.
  5.  The answer will tell you if your property is in a high risk, or low to moderate risk, flood zone.

FEMA's mission is to support our citizens and first responders to ensure that as a nation we work together to build, sustain, and improve our capability to prepare for, protect against, respond to, recover from, and mitigate all hazards.
