FEMA Mitigation Specialists At Two Lowe's Stores

FRANKFORT, Ky. -- Mitigation specialists with the Federal Emergency Management Agency will be at two Lowe's home improvement stores in Louisville at various times through Sept. 11.

Experts will be on hand to educate the public on prevention and preparedness. People can learn more about strengthening homes during construction, rebuilding or remodeling.

Outreach hours at the Lowe's stores will be: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday from      7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday hours are 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. No mitigation staff will be on site on Wednesdays.

Mitigation allows people and communities to minimize the threat and help prevent future damage.

FEMA specialists can explain the benefits of home strengthening through proper anchorage and strapping. They can also describe how to build a safe room in your home to protect occupants during tornadoes and high winds.
