SOUTH CHARLESTON, W. Va. -- Tomorrow, July 14, is the last day to apply for disaster funds if you had losses because of the early May storms.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) teleregistration number to call for a grant or loan is 800-621-FEMA (3362). Phone lines are open from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily. Those with speech or hearing impairments may call TTY 800-462-7585. You can also register online at www.DisasterAssistance.gov.
Anyone who wants to speak face-to-face with a disaster official can visit the State/FEMA and SBA Recovery Center located in Gilbert at the Harless Community Center between 10:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. Assistance with SBA disaster loan applications is also available at the Matewan Town Hall between
8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., and at the Head Start Building on Hwy. 52 in Hanover between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. All centers shut down permanently tomorrow at close of business.
If you already registered and were given an SBA application it must be returned by mail or to a disaster recovery center no later than tomorrow. You can complete the application online before the deadline at SBA's secure website, https://disasterloan.sba.gov/ela/.
"We want to make it very clear that filling out and returning the SBA form does not mean you are required to take out a loan," said Federal Coordinating Officer Gregory Eaton. "It does mean that if you do not get a loan you may be eligible for one of the State/FEMA grants."
Applicants for assistance must live, work or own a business in the disaster designated counties of Calhoun, McDowell, Mercer, Mingo, Raleigh or Wyoming.
