LITTLE ROCK, Ark. -- As of Friday, June 19, 2009, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has obligated more than $129.5 million to the state of Arkansas for eligible public assistance projects. This funding addresses damage, losses and emergency protective costs associated with the late January, 2009 ice storm.
The breakdown, by category, for obligated FEMA funds to applicants in the 30 counties declared eligible for federal funding is:

Obligated FEMA funds will cover 75 percent of an eligible project's cost. In Arkansas, the state contributes 12.5 percent with the applicant covering the remaining 12.5 percent.
The majority of the public assistance projects obligated to date are under $1 million. Twenty-three key projects, all in excess of $1 million, account for $85.7 million of the overall monies obligated.
