JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. -- The federal/state Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) in University City will close Friday, but will transition to a U.S. Small Business Administration Disaster Loan Outreach Center (DLOC), the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) announced today.
The DRC at the University City Recreational Building (Centennial Commons Recreation Center), 7210 Olive Blvd., University City, MO 63130, will end operations at 7 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 19, 2008.
On Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2009, SBA will re-open a DLOC at the same location. This operation will continue through the close of business Monday, Jan. 12, 2009. Hours of operation will be 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Disaster SBA representatives at the DLOC are able to provide disaster loan applications, answer questions, explain the application process, and help individuals complete their loan applications. For more information, visit SBA's Web site at: www.sba.gov/services/disasterassistance, call 1-800-659-2955, or e-mail to email@example.com.
To register for FEMA assistance: call 1-800-621-FEMA (3362), (TTY 1-800-462-7585, for the speech- or hearing- impaired) or apply online anytime at www.fema.gov. Applicants who have already registered can check the status of their applications and get many questions answered about the process.
There are many other federal agencies, state agencies, and community organizations with resources to help disaster-impacted individuals. Accessing these resources may aid residents who have unmet needs stemming from the disaster.
Jan. 12, 2009, is the deadline to apply for disaster assistance for those affected by the severe storms, flooding and tornado that occurred during the period of Sept. 11-24.
FEMA coordinates the federal government's role in preparing for, preventing, mitigating the effects of, responding to, and recovering from all domestic disasters, whether natural or man-made, including acts of terror.
