Before going to a DRC, it is best to register with FEMA by calling 1-800-621-3362 (FEMA) (TTY 800-462-7585), or register online at www.fema.gov.? Applicants will be asked: name, address, telephone contact number, Social Security number, and insurance coverage. It takes 20 to 30 minutes to complete the application interview.

Applicants will be assigned a nine-digit registration number. They should write this number down and keep it safe.? Like a Social Security number, applicants should not share this personal number with anyone. The number will be used by FEMA to track the progress of their recovery file.
