INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- Are you pressed for time? Need to update your disaster registration? Well, officials from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) want all registered Hoosiers to know there is a new function available on FEMA's toll-free Helpline, "Automated Status Update."
Applicants have the option to update their contact information by calling the toll-free FEMA Helpline at 1-800-621-FEMA (3362) or the TTY line at 1-800-462-7585, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily. By following a series of voice-activated prompts, an applicant can speedily access information about personal registration, eligibility status, financial compensation, the appeal process and other information, including updating current information without having to wait to speak to a representative.
Here are the options callers get when they dial 1-800-621- FEMA (3362) or TTY 1-800-462-7585:
Press 1 for registration.
Press 2 for Automated Status Update.
- Press 3 for the Helpline, which will connect callers with FEMA staff.
To access the Automated Status Update, applicants must provide their FEMA registration ID number, date of birth and the last four digits of their Social Security number. If an applicant provides inaccurate information or makes an error, the call will be forwarded to FEMA Helpline staff.
FEMA coordinates the federal government's role in preparing for, preventing, mitigating the effects of, responding to, and recovering from all domestic disasters, whether natural or man-made, including acts of terror.
