LITTLE ROCK, Ark. -- Having served more than 2,000 visitors, state and federal officials have decided that the Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) in Sebastian County will extend its operation through June 14. (The center was slated to close on May 31.) The hours of operation continue to be Monday through Saturday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. The center is at the following location:
Sebastian County (DRC)

(across street from Howard Johnson's)
12 N. 11th St.

Disaster victims are encouraged to register for assistance before they visit by calling 1-800-621-FEMA (3362) or TTY 1-800-462-7585 for the hearing- or speech-impaired. The lines are open 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., daily. Those affected by the tornado can also register online at www.fema.gov. The deadline to register is June 27, 2008.
Registering before visiting a DRC will shorten time spent at the center. Visiting a DRC is not required to be considered for assistance.
Representatives of state, federal, voluntary agencies and the U.S. Small Business Administration will be available to answer questions and provide recovery information. Written materials about various assistance programs are also available to individuals and business owners. No cash, checks, debit cards or vouchers are distributed at DRCs. Centers are for the dissemination of information to assist in disaster recovery.
FEMA coordinates the federal government's role in preparing for, preventing, mitigating the effects of, responding to, and recovering from all domestic disasters, whether natural or man-made, including acts of terror.
