JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. -- A Disaster Recovery Center is opening Tuesday in Stone County, providing face-to-face assistance to those who suffered damage in the recent flooding.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency and the State Emergency Management Agency said the DRC will be open today from 1 to 7 p.m. After that, the hours will be from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., closed Sundays.

Visitors should register with FEMA prior to visiting the DRC. Register by calling FEMA's toll-free registration line at 1-800-621-FEMA (3362) (TTY 1-800-462-7585) from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily, or go online at www.fema.gov. Registrants should use the name on their Social Security card when registering online.
The Presidential disaster declaration of March 19 for storms beginning March 17 now includes all of the following counties: Bollinger, Carter, Christian, Franklin, Greene, Iron, Jasper, Jefferson, Maries, Newton, Oregon, Phelps, Pulaski, Reynolds, St. Francois, Stone, Texas, Washington and Wayne.
Visitors to the DRCs will find information on:
- FEMA and state disaster assistance programs;
- U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) low-interest disaster loans and how to complete the loan application;
- Smart building techniques to reduce damage from future floods; and
- Flood insurance.
FEMA coordinates the federal government's role in preparing for, preventing, mitigating the effects of, responding to, and recovering from all domestic disasters, whether natural or man-made, including acts of terror.
