MERRIMACK, N.H. -- The Federal Emergency Management Agency announced today that its teleregistration and Helpline will be closed on Thanksgiving Day. It will reopen on Friday, November 24.
The teleregistration and Helpline will close down at midnight on Wednesday, November 23 and will reopen Friday, November 25 at 6 a.m. It will operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week, until further notice. The toll-free number is 1-800-621-FEMA (3362) or TTY 1-800-462-7585 for the speech and hearing impaired.
Residents and business-owners who sustained property damage or had personal losses resulting from the October severe storms and flooding should call to register for assistance as soon as possible. Registration can also be done online at www.fema.gov.
The following information will be needed:
- Current phone number
- Pre-disaster and current address
- Social Security Number
- If insured, your insurance policy number, or the agent's and company name
- Bank account code if you wish to speed up your assistance with direct deposit
The Helpline option at the same number can be used by those who have already submitted an application or have completed the U.S. Small Business Administration low-interest loan application may have follow-up questions or may need to update their information. They will be asked for their FEMA file number.
FEMA prepares the nation for all hazards and manages federal response and recovery efforts following any national incident. FEMA also initiates mitigation activities, trains first responders, works with state and local emergency managers, and manages the National Flood Insurance Program and the U.S. Fire Administration. FEMA became part of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security on March 1, 2003.
