MOUNT LAUREL, N.J. -- State and federal disaster recovery officials announced a change in hours for Disaster Recovery Centers. The centers will now be open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and CLOSED Saturdays and Sunday. The centers are located at:
- Lumberton Middle School, Gymnasium, 30 Dimsdale Drive, Lumberton, NJ
- Burlington County Institute of Technology, Cafeteria, 10 Hawkins Road, Medford, NJ
- Cherry Hill Township Municipal Building, Room 208, 820 Mercer Street, Cherry Hill, NJ
People who have suffered damage to their home, apartment or business property in the designated counties who have not yet registered for assistance are urged to call 1-800-621-FEMA (3362).
The special number for those with hearing or speech impairment is TTY 1-800-462-7585.
These numbers are available 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Saturday.
After individuals have applied by phone, they may visit the centers with any questions or to receive more specific information on federal and state recovery programs. To check on the status of their application, they may visit a DRC or call the FEMA Helpline at same numbers listed above.
On March 1, 2003, FEMA became part of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. FEMA’s continuing mission within the new department is to lead the effort to prepare the nation for all hazards and effectively manage federal response and recovery efforts following any national incident. FEMA also initiates proactive mitigation activities, trains first responders, and manages Citizen Corps, the National Flood Insurance Program and the U.S. Fire Administration.
