Baltimore, MD -- The Federal/State Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) located in Cecil County will be closed on Sundays effective October 19, 2003.
The DRC, located in the Elkton National Guard Armory, 101 Railroad Avenue in Elkton, is designed to provide information or answer questions for those who have already applied for disaster assistance. The Center will continue operations during regular hours, Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., and on Saturday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., until further notice
Anyone affected by Hurricane Isabel is encouraged to register for assistance by calling the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) toll-free number: 1-800-621-FEMA (3362) or TTY 1-800-462-7585. The deadline to apply for help is November 18, 2003.
On March 1, 2003, FEMA became part of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. FEMA's continuing mission within the new department is to lead the effort to prepare the nation for all hazards and effectively manage federal response and recovery efforts following any national incident. FEMA also initiates proactive mitigation activities, trains first responders, and manages Citizen Corps, the National Flood Insurance Program and the U.S. Fire Administration.
