Nashville, TN -- As the recovery from Tennessee's May disaster progresses, the call-in hours for the registration line are being reduced because of diminished demand, Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) officials said today.
The telephone lines are now available from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday. To date, 11,420 people have registered for assistance in Tennessee since the federal declaration of disaster on May 8.
People who suffered losses in May's tornadoes, severe storms and flooding and who have not registered for state and federal assistance should call the toll-free number, 1-800-621-FEMA (3362) or the TDD number, 1-800-462-7585, for those with speech or hearing impairment. The deadline to register is July 7.
