Applicant Briefings Scheduled For Arkansas Government Officials

Sherwood, AR -- Local government officials can learn about federal and state disaster recovery help during a series of briefings being conducted across the state. These meetings are to discuss assistance to local governments only. This is part of the federal recovery effort resulting from storms in May.

Assistance can include disaster aid in the form of reimbursement for debris removal, emergency protective measures, and costs to repair or replace roads, bridges and other public facilities damaged by the recent ice storms. Funding may be available to state agencies, local governments and certain nonprofit agencies providing government-like services.

Applicant briefings will be held for the following counties:

Chicot County:

Madison and Newton Counties:

Time & Date: 9 a.m., Monday, June 16, 2003
Location: Old Library on Highway 412 in Huntsville (east of Arvest Bank)

Conway, Perry and Van Buren Counties:

Time & Date: 2:30 p.m., Monday, June 16, 2003
Location: Office of Emergency Management Building in Morrilton
(in front of hospital)

Craighead, Poinsett, Cross and St. Francis Counties:

Time & Date: 10 a.m., Tuesday, June 17, 2003
Location: Poinsett County Courthouse in Harrisburg (Highway 14)

Independence, Jackson, Cleburne, Woodruff and White Counties:
