Columbus, MS -- State, federal, local and voluntary agencies are working in partnership to help Mississippi residents recover from the recent severe storms and tornadoes. Following is a summary of ongoing response and recovery efforts as of close of business, Wednesday, November 27, 2002.
- More than 1,032 individuals and business owners affected by the recent Mississippi severe storms and tornadoes have registered for assistance through FEMA's toll-free registration line. More than $421,000 has been approved for disaster housing assistance and more than $943,000 approved for other needs.
- The U.S. Small Business Administration has issued 371 home and 148 business loan applications and approved $309,900 in disaster loans.
- There is a Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) in Columbus located at:

Individuals affected by the disaster are encouraged to register at the FEMA toll-free tele-registration number at 800-621-FEMA (3362), or for the speech or hearing impaired, TTY 800-462-7585. Phone lines are open 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. seven days a week until further notice.
