Mesa, AZ -- Arizonans who had damage or losses from the Rodeo-Chediski fire have one week left to register for state and federal disaster assistance, officials reminded today.

Monday, August 26, is the deadline to register by calling the toll-free registration number,1-800-621-FEMA (3362) or TTY 1-800-462-7585. These numbers also serve as the FEMA Helpline, which will remain open until further notice from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday-Friday.

"Until the deadline, we urge anyone who had damage or loss from the Rodeo-Chediski fire to call in and register for assistance. We want to help everyone who qualifies," said Michael P. Austin, director of the Arizona Division of Emergency Management.

"Even after the help centers close, Arizonans affected by the fire can get information through the Helpline, or learn the status of their applications," said Sandy Coachman, FEMA's federal coordinating officer for the recovery effort.

Federal and state assistance in response and recovery to the fire has totaled more than $26 million.
