San Antonio, TX -- Disaster assistance is being made available to residents in Dimmit, Duval, San Patricio, Burnet and Coleman counties as a result of the Texas Floods of 2002.

Dimmit County has been added for Public Assistance and Individual Assistance. Duval and San Patricio counties have been added for public assistance while Burnet and Coleman counties have been added for Individual Assistance.

The designation of individual assistance for Dimmit, Burnet and Coleman counties means that residents are eligible to apply for disaster assistance, which could include disaster housing assistance, low-interest loans to repair or replace flood-damaged property or assistance for serious needs and necessary expenses not met by other programs.

Duval and San Patricio counties have been added for public assistance. This program is funded by the Federal Emergency Management Agency and administered by the state on a 75/25 percent cost share basis.

The addition of Dimmit County brings the total receiving federal funding to 39 counties.

Individuals and business owners are urged to call the toll-free registration line at 800-621-FEMA (3362) or 800-462-7585 for hearing or speech impaired to apply for disaster assistance.
