Beckley, WV -- Federal and State officials have contracted to install more than 300 portable toilets and four portable showers in McDowell County for those affected by the recent severe storms, flooding and landslides. Mingo County also received portable toilets.
In McDowell County, six-head portable showers were in place Friday, May 10, at Frog Level Road, Coalwood, and at the Fanning Funeral Home, U.S. Iaeger. Showers at both locations were expected to be operational on Saturday, May 11.
Portable toilets were installed in the following locations (number of toilets in parentheses): Kimball (32); Coalwood (60); Panther (36); Johnny Cake Hollow (6); Zach's Branch (12); Northfork Hollow (48); Iaeger (32); Roderfield (12); Raysal (12); Hemphill (12); Bradshaw (18), and Route 80 (52).
On Saturday, May 11, showers will be installed at Jakes Grocery, in Worth, and the Quickstop Route 3, in Panther. Those units will be operational by Sunday, May 12.
In Mingo County, portable toilets were installed at the Old B&L warehouse, in Maher.
