Clanton, AL -- Two weeks remain for residents of Alabama's 19 disaster counties to register with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) for financial help in recovering from losses suffered in the November tornadoes and storms.
The two-month registration period closes Feb. 5.
Registering is fast and free, as easy as dialing 1-800-621-FEMA (3362). The number is available Monday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
"People in the declared counties whose property was damaged should not fail to register," said Lee Helms, director of the Alabama Emergency Management Agency.
Those who plan to seek low-interest disaster loans from the U.S. Small Business Administration to recover economic losses or to rebuild storm-damaged property also must first register with FEMA.
The TTY number for those with speech or hearing problems is 1-800-462-7585.
