Two Disaster Recovery Centers To Open In Pennsylvania Counties

Philadelphia, PA -- To further help individuals and businesses affected by recent storms and flooding in Bucks , and Montgomery counties, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency (PEMA) will open two Disaster Recovery Centers (DRC) beginning Tuesday, June 26, 2001.

The temporary Disaster Recovery Centers are designed to provide more detailed program information to those who have already applied for assistance under President Bush's June 21 disaster declaration and who may have further questions. Representatives of state, federal and voluntary agencies will be present, including loan officers from the U.S. Small Business Administration.

The disaster programs available include temporary housing, individual and family grants, disaster unemployment assistance, and other aid programs. Additionally, representatives from state agencies will provide information and assistance on consumer protection, homeowner insurance help, health and welfare assistance, well water testing, crisis counseling, driver license and vehicle registration replacement, senior citizen services, advice on utility-related problems and state Income and Sales and Use Tax questions.

Please note, financial assistance is not directly provided from these centers and applicants are not required to visit the recovery centers to get federal disaster assistance. However, applicants must register FIRST by using FEMA's toll-free number: 1-800-462-9029. For those who are speech or hearing impaired the TTY number is 1-800-462-7585.

THE DISASTER RECOVERY CENTERS WILL HAVE THE FOLLOWING HOURS -- UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE:

Tuesday, June 26, 2001 through Saturday, June 30, 2001:
9:00 am - 8:00 pm

Sunday, July 1, 2001:
10:00 am - 6:00 pm

Monday, July 2, 2001 through Saturday, July 7, 2001:
10:00 am - 7:00 pm

Sunday, July 8, 2001:
