San Juan, PR -- The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has established a web page specifically for the floods and mudslides that occurred between May 6 and 11 in the western region of the island. Internet users can get disaster program description and most current assistance information at www.fema.gov/spanish/news/event_spa.fema?id=108.

"FEMA has designed a page in Spanish especially for this disaster" said Justo Hernández, federal coordinating officer for the recovery effort. "Residents and media representatives interested in the recent flooding recovery should visit the site."

The media can access the website for weekly statistical updates on each municipality, news releases, and backgrounders relating to the presidential declaration.

Browsers can visit www.fema.gov/spanish for FEMA coverage on other U.S. disasters, Project Impact information and hurricane preparedness tips.

"With hurricane season upon us, we encourage residents to check out the site to learn more about what they can do to prepare themselves for possible severe weather this year," Hernández said.
